Dr Ruth Wareham
Dr Ruth Wareham was appointed as a governor in 2025 and is a parent of two daughters, one currently attending King Edward VI Northfield and another who completed her GCSEs at the school in 2024.
She holds a PhD in the philosophy of education and works as an academic at the University of Birmingham. Her research focuses on religion, belief, and education, and she has a particular interest in children’s rights and inclusion. Ruth is also employed as an Education Policy Researcher for Humanists UK and serves as a humanist representative on Birmingham’s Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE).
Before entering academia, Ruth was a primary school teacher and worked in schools across Birmingham and the West Midlands. She brings a wide range of personal and professional experience to the role and is committed to promoting inclusive, high-quality education for all children and young people.
